What is a Blog?

Blogs many people didn't even know what a blog was decades ago, all there was, was diary's, notes and telegrams to communicate and express on what they feel and what they were thinking. But as technology progresses over the years more and more communication technologies are created to make communication a lot easier. Blogs are a way for people to show what they feeling and thinking and to show others what they have done throughout their past. blogs are also used to give people a way of showing what they have done such as; advertisements, business, family past and lectures on information like science and archaeology. This blog that I have written is to show my ideas of what ICT is like and the way it has impacted on society, to me I think blogs are a really good way to express feelings and knowledge especially to the whole world, blogs are more than diary's or any other kind of communication because it shows a self being and a whole understanding of what people are really like. It shows what information and knowledge that people really know, and that is a blog to me.

Legal issues

legal issues were brought in to law to stop people from downloading and sharing other people's creations. these laws have change the way people use the Internet but people still break the law and take advantage of the way copyright is used.

Data protection act gives protection to information of people who are connected both manual and electronic. it does protects the privacy of peoples information and it gives the right and freedoms of private data. Some acts do not apply to the data protection act such as using a personal address book; they must keep anything which is really personal to them.

Computer misuse Act blocks cyber thief's from getting in to any of your personal details. R v Gold & Schifreen was the first people to hack in to the data of the parliament using an old 1980's computer, later on they had created the law which made it illegal to hack in and take information. It was mostly thieving information from other people’s computers. It still happens today but your important data and information are a lot safe because it is impossible to get away from the computer misuse legalization. Many countries have taken up this law to stop the cyber crime from happening.

Copyright is legal to the artist or the creator to use that work anywhere they want, but it is only illegal to people who haven't had permission to use it. They had made illegal for a wide range of copyright because the creator of the work cannot gain any benefits when people who are downloading it for free of file sharing sites. Some right are fair and some are not, artist creators will have to follow this law and will not be able to share the artist’s creations online, otherwise it would be an illegal act and will be prosecuted for their actions. 

Changing working patterns

Many jobs are disappearing because of the increasing rate of technology, many jobs such as car manufacturers are losing many workers because of the use of robotic technology. There are also jobs like mailing or product making that include technology to make the process of work much quicker.

The advantages of technology through working is great for mass production because it makes the rate of working a lot faster and easier for people to get what they want without any mistakes, and they can control the machines themselves.

The disadvantages of the modern technology in working conditions are that they will need to be maintained every month which will cost a lot more money than having normal workers. If one machine does not work they have to replace it which will take up a lot of time and can delay things which are being done.

Teleworking is when someone works at home, mobile working, telecentres and other forms of cummunicating through to other people giving information. Job losses have been mostly happening because of teleworking because people from buisnesses are working at home giving which is giving them more chocie of information but less jobs.
My view on modern technology that are taking over jobs is a good way to increase the production in many businesses, but the prices of the technology is not worth the replacement of the workers unless the businesses are able to cope with the amount of money that they need to pay to keep their work going.

Impact on communities

Over the past 20 years the impact on technology over wide ranges of communities have changed rapidly, increasing the changes of the way technology works also. as technology started to increase over countries so did other devices such as mobile phones, cars, super computers. the more technology the more intelligent it becomes.

Because of the increase of technology, older aged people found it harder for the modern use of technology but computers have been around for over 60 years but the rate of technology has increased so much that older people who used to be intelligent with computers don't know anything about the modern technology. younger people get used to the new technology, using more than what technology could give them.

Banks and businesses are closing down because of the increase in online banking and ecomence. Just under 30 years ago banks where a big thing, they allowed you to keep your own money at your bank allowing you to access it at anytime but now that the Internet has more control of banks and businesses, banks use the Internet to have control of money, you can transfer money online and set up regular payments.
Businesses use the Internet and other technologies such as phones to communicate through to people who need information, some businesses where not able to cope with the prices of the new modern technology for the amount of workers that needed them, that is what causes businesses to close down because of the modern technology, if a business cannot have the technology then no one will be able to use it because everything evolves around technology.

Millions of people go online daily, which makes it mostly like a virtual world, most people just spend their time on computers or watching TV. although people struggle with the modern technology they are making it easier by creating simple websites or other technological systems, like online shopping it's easy to use even for people who are not used to modern technology.

The Internet over the years has become an important source of information, tourists use it to find directions for popular places, and students use them for educational purposes, family and friends use the Internet to communicate through E-mail and social networking sites.

The advantages of technology has risen a lot ever since the Internet has been made, because of the information and the many different things the Internet provides but it has caused many disruptions in businesses because the many people who use the information for businesses want more out of it, making it easier to do thing but it is hard for businesses to provide the certain technology.

The wide range of technology that is available today make it easier for people to communicate, finding  information and the rapid increase of technology opens up a more things for people in the future.

 

Unequal access

Unequal access

Unequal access is a major thing around the world, people in the more populated richer countries will get connection for networking but poorer countries such as Africa and North Korea will not be able to get access to networking but those two countries are just a minor number of countries without connection. Europe and the USA will be able to get the most amount of connection because of the rich economy. Some areas in the higher connected countries will get poor connection which will happen sometimes when the more populated countries will take over and use to much network connection.

My view on unequal access is that it is unfair that the more populated countries get the most connection when small struggling countries will not be able to access the Internet because they cannot afford the prices of it and when the connection breaks it will cost a lot to repair, poor signals effect people in some areas around the globe which is not allowing them access to the internet because of the areas they live in.

In some countries digital divide occurs such as united kingdom or the united states they have rich economies but some people will not have all access to the technology because they are either to poor or have poor working conditions to have access to the Internet or other technologies or they are older and choose not to have the technology because it is to  technical.


global digital divide is even worse than just digital divide in some countries, because they will never get any access at all to modern technology, countries like Africa which is not a rich economie can not afford the prices of the technology. 

Moral and ethical uses

The internet and technology today are great for social networking and connecting with others, but with the power of technology and the brains of the people they are able to access more than just simple sites they are able to use hacking software’s allowing them to access other computers, and are also able to upload files over the internet allowing people to download them files. I am writing to tell you some of the issues what most computers and the internet gets today.

Moral issues

Plagiarism is when someone writes text either on a program like Microsoft word or email or internet sites, there are two different types of plagiarism when there is written text on a website or email or when there is text on a screen and someone will copy every single word from that text.

Plagiarism also gives people ideas from work but they still copy off them but change it in to their own words to make it look like it wasn’t copied.

Plagiarism also consists on lies, they will copy out another person’s work and then keep it as their own work and then lie about it when it is either being checked or being marked.

File sharing

File sharing is when there is a website that has a user which people by movies or music then copies the files from off the disk then upload them files on to that website allowing other people to download that file and share it and use it for themselves.

File sharing stops the artist or the creator from earning their share of money and then more and more people are getting the movie or song for free and the artist is getting nothing.

Snooping

Snooping is like eavesdropping. Snooping is casual observation of emails, they bring anything from one computer and make it show on their computer allowing them to see what they want to see which is on your screen they can also watch what they are typing up on the screen and take their details such as bank details and passwords.

Snooping is just monitoring the victims screen without hacking or adding viruses but they are still able to see anything with important details and then they can further hack on to other things such as bank sites and use your details or spam you social networks from monitoring their passwords.
